In looking at the map, New Orleans is rather protected, and most storms get broken up as they pass around/through Florida. People in the Florida & the Caribbean board up their homes annually for these kinds of storms. I think they're used to the pattern, and they don't take the warnings lightly. Grand Cayman was destroyed less than a year ago...I have a client that lost their vacation home down there. It was completely leveled. I'm not saying that people in general ignored the warnings in New Orleans, but I have a hard time imagining that there were never any warnings given, or that the "Bryan Busby" of New Orleans wasn't telling people to get the he!! out of Dodge. I'm sure the weathermen were telling everyone it was serious business, and they probably watched it come all the way in. However, I can't speak as to why the Governor of Louisiana, the Mayor of New Orleans, and the Feds didn't work together to evacuate the city, including the people that don't watch the news or read the paper. A couple pieces of info. that I'd like to have are (A) when did the authorities or the weathermen in New Orleans tell people to leave the city, and (B) how many days later the did storm hit?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
